Boeing's new 787 will be in the flight testing stage next summer.  Wouldn't it be nice if.....just IF,  they could bring the Dreamliner even for a fly-by.  EAA is all about new & innovative things in aviation,  and its not like they've never hosted a commercial jetliner before.  I know Boeing is going to be taking it on some sort of marketing tour similar to the A380.  Airventure needs a "big name" headliner like a couple years ago with SpaceShip One.  That would be so cool.

I don't know if you guys remember this, but Oshkosh was actually trying to win the bid for the place to build the 787! However, Boeing said they required a deep water port...I don't think Lake Winnebago counts! Oshkosh always has some really cool stuff show up though, and since it's a week-long thing, they get all kinds of military stuff that happens to be passing through the area.

It's not on the Airventure site yet, but there are a number of stories about the Rocket Racing League having their debut exhibition race at Oshkosh this summer.

The RRL press release is here.

That could be different... Cool

Peter Diamandis spoke to a group of us a few years ago about this at the Air and Space Museum. (I remember sitting next to a P-39 mechanic who did not like working on them)  I think they are a little behind schedule, but it still sounds interesting. Part of the pizazz is the requirement to refuel during the race.  I also remember talking to the Velocity people at Sun n Fun and a comment was made about whether or not their plane could handle a rocket.  Maybe a little redesign was necessary.  I think racing BD-5s would be cool if the Velocity doesn't work out.

I doubt they're still planning on having refueling Mark, as the format now seems to be multiple 4-lap heats of a 5-mile F1 course.  20 miles - even a Me163 could probably manage that without refueling!

this will be cool to see I think.  Wendover got a packet from them a few years back about becoming a race site - seemed pretty incredible at the time.  Of course we are a bit out of the way for the crowds they are looking for but the DVD they sent was impressive!

FOREIGNER is the band performing on Monday 5/28!!!!   Dance Dance   Hell yeah!  I'm an 80s-music guy and I love them!  I will be there,  but I probably wont be able to attend on the closing day, Sunday 8/3, because of a big Packers event that we're broadcasting to kick off the NFL preseason.

Lambeau Field should be a full house (70,000+) on 8/3,   with Airventure also going on ending that weekend it is going to be CRAZY around here!

Great a packers event right next to where i'm staying at for airventure. Good thing my uncle already booked a room at the Hilton Garden Inn in green bay.

Per ACC - "Thunderbirds requested permission to do a flyover at OSH - currently pending approval. OSH has a box over the water for the Raptor."

I remember seeing the Harrier in 1978 at Oshkosh.  That was a performance, although I was very little and barely remember anything, other than that and Bob Hoover's coke bottle glasses !

I saw the Harrier just a couple years ago at Oshkosh - 2005 or 2006,  I think it was there in 2007 but I missed it.  Anyway I was right up by the flight line and that sucker was LOUD....Louder than anything I had seen,  until of course the B-1!    Helo

This is a question from my uncle to everyone who lives in Green Bay. Cause hes wondering if the Brett Farve's Steakhouse is burned down or is shunned by everyone in Green Bay cause thats where we usually eat dinner while we stay up there in during Oshkosh.
