After keeping up with things at Alliance on the military board, I finally decided to start an Alliance thread on the civil side.  AFW is owned by the City of Fort Worth.  Main tenants at the field include FedEx, American Airlines (maintenance base) and Bell Helicopter - Textron.

The FedEx facility is very busy at night (between 22:30 and 05:00), but there are also four daylight arrivals and departures Tuesday through Saturday.
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL) flight arrives about 10:00 - equipment MD-10F
- San Diego (SAN) flight arrives about 11:00 - equipment A310
- Los Angeles (LAX) flight arrive about 11:10 - equipment MD-10F
- Oakland (OAK) flight arrives about 12:00 - equipment is MD-10F or MD-11F
The return flights normally depart between 15:00 and 16:30.  The San Diego flight is normally the same plane each day, but the other flights have different registrations day to day.

American ferry flights in and out occur at any time and are primarily Boeing 777, 767 and 757's.

The FBO stays very busy with plenty of GA, biz jets and military transients.  The Texas Motor Speedway is only about five miles away and on race weekends, the FBO may be full of the drivers' biz jets and Bell Helicopter stays busy ferrying VIP's to the track.

Here's some FedEx equipment to get things started:
- A310 N420FE from San Diego braking on 16L
- MD-10F N559FE from LAX turning off 16L
- MD-10F N556FE from Fort Lauderdale touching down on 34R

Blue Skies,
Curt

An unusual visitor arrived at Alliance Friday evening.
Flight AAY4214 - a charter from Sanford and Fort Lauderdale, FL.
It was parked on the ramp at the FBO right next to the fence Saturday, then departed early Sunday morning, as AAY 4224, back to Florida.

Photos:
- Friday evening...On short final to 16L at Alliance.
- Saturday morning...Sitting on the ramp at the FBO.

Curt

An unusual visitor (for me anyway) at Alliance this week.  This is the first non-Navy Sabreliner I have spotted at AFW.  Sure wish I could have stuck around until departure...

Curt

Some recent shots from Alliance...

The Atlas 747 has been here a few times the last two weeks.  I think they are flying overflow cargo for FedEx.

A few unusual visitors at Alliance over the past two days.

1. Lightship Group blimp N154ZP in DirectTV graphics rests in a field next to the ATC tower.  The blimp was in town providing aerial coverage of the Dallas Cowboys home game.
2. Eclipse Aviation EA500 VLJ (Very Light Jet) ready for a demo ride for a prospective customer.

Blue Skies,
Curt

A rare (for the DFW area) 767-200 departs from Alliance today on a test flight - AAL9655.
American Airlines has a maintenance base at the Alliance field - catering mostly to 777, 767 and a few 757s.

Curt
