One of these years you're going to feature jet warbirds.  Why not on the 10th anniversary.  Afro

Modern day 10 years is a Diamond anniversary, but Traditionally it would be Tin/Aluminum!
Thunder over Michigan 2008, Pushing Tin!

Could you imagine this on Willow Runs tarmac....

Dale Snodgrass F-86
Ed shipley F-86
Planes of Fame F-86
Warbird Heritage Foundation F-86
Rich Sugden FJ-4B Fury
Paul Keppeler T-33
Planes of Fame T-33
Vlado Lenoch and Dan Schiffer T-33
Collings Foundation T-33
Chris Rounds CT-33 (Red Knight)
Fowler"Big Dog" Cary T-33
Planes of Fame MiG-15
Randy Ball Mig-17
Will Ward MiG-17
David Burdine MiG-17
Bill Reesman MiG-17
Paul van den Heuvel MiG-21UM
Indiana Aviation A-37 Dragonfly
Gerald Conley DH115 Venom
Warbird Heritage Foundation T-2
Collings Foundation TA-4J
Robin Rice and Andy Anderson BAC 167 Strikemaster "The Dragon"

The F-100 down in Indiana would be nice but the runway at Willow Run is not long enough to handle it. Which make me wonder if Willow run could handle the Collings Foundation F-4? Huh

Add in a few a Corsairs, Hellcats, Mustangs and maybe even a Super Hornet.... Heck, add in an ACC demo (like F-22 Roll Eyes ) and have an all Jet Heritage flight! Raptor and three F-86s! How cool would that be! whip

Just dreaming,
Steven L

Steven,

The Collings F-4 came to Valparaiso, IN in 2000 and our runway 9/27 is 7,001' x 150'.  So it's possible TOM could host the F-4.

Steven you mind if i throw a few jets in there???

Dr. Sugdens Mig-17 and Mig-15(and newly acquired F-86!)
little known Mig-17 for sale in Illinois right now, it was at Rockford.
Tom Woods F-86 Sabre
There are several L-39's, L-29's, Strikemasters and I know theres a few Follans Gnats out there.  How about the Civilian owned harrier too?
Maybe that gorgeous De Havilland Sea Venom that used to be owned in Indiana??  I think its out in New York now.
ATAC or a civillian owned hawker hunter would be awesome too!
How about that Thunderbird T-38 owned down in Texas and lets not forget about the Stargfighters;)
And also, i know there will be two flying by next year, how about the replica Me 262's?
Or maybe somehow get that Mig-23 out here.
There are quite a few T-33's out there now as well.
Also, how about some TS-11 Iskra's?
I know there is some Drakens out there too:)
US Jet Team and their Fouga Magisters(or just some Fougas in general)
How about the Snowbirds too??  Tutors are warbirds now a-days.

There is a wide list of birds that are availible, just getting them all to come is the problem lol.

Dave - and you other jet warbirds fans - you couldn't have said it any better then I could.  I vote for a JET WARBIRD theme for the 10th Anniversary.  Smiley And as for the F-100F, F-4s, F-104s or any other jet warbirds that may be questionable for the runway at Willow Run, I have no problem with staging from another location and doing flybys on Friday/Saturday/Sunday.

And Michael and others at YAM - even if the Jet theme cannot be done for 2008, please strongly consider it for sometime in the next few years.

hey people were saying jet warbirds, technically they are jet warbirds and were the jets that trained pilots to fly the big fighters.

You're right - they are jet warbirds - just not that interesting to me.  I don't mind having these aircraft types show up for a jet warbird gathering at an air show (and based on their sheer numbers and popularity with jet warbird owners they will undoubtedly show up), but the T-33 and the T-2 Buckeye are the only jet trainer types among currently flying jet warbirds that I find particularly interesting.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE SHOW GO BACK TO THE RAMP AREA LIKE IN THE PAST YEARS. YOU THEN HAVE A MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE
AREA TO WALK IN AND THE WHOLE SHOW IS MUCH MORE CONTAINED. THE FLYBYS ARE CLOSER, THE AIRCRAFT ARE MORE ACCESSABLE. THIS YEARS SHOW WAS WAY TO SPREAD OUT. THE EMPHASIS WAS ON THE BLUE ANGELS, NOT THE B-25S. YOU COULD NOT EVEN GET CLOSE TO THE THUNDERBOLTS, MUSTANGS, P-40S, ETC..THE AIRSHOW WAS A "CATCH EVERYONE" AIRSHOW. BRING BACK THE MOCK BATTLES AND STRAFING FIGHTERS.  IF WE CAN'T GET THE ALL JET THEME (INTERESTING JETS) WE SHOULD GO FOR
AN ALL P-51 THEME. WE HAVEN'T DONE THIS YET. P-51B, P-51-C, AND D. THIS IS THE LAST YEAR OF THE GATHERING OF MUSTANGS, BUT I BET THE OWNERS OF ALL THOSE MUSTANGS ARE STILL INTERESTED IN GETTING TOGETHER. REMEMBER, THE T.O.M. AIRSHOW IS ABOUT
VINTAGE AIRCRAFT, NOT STUNT FLYING AND FORMATION FLIGHT TEAMS. THE T.O.M. AIRSHOW WAS GETTING WORLD ATTENTION FOR BEING "THEE" THEMED WWII AVIATION EVENT TO ATTEND. THIS LAST SHOW DID DAMAGE TO THAT REPUTATION. ALL THE ACTS WERE GREAT, DON'T GET ME WRONG, BUT THE SHOW WAS JUST ANOTHER GENERIC CROWDED AIRSHOW. LETS GET BACK TO OUR ROOTS.

JUST MY OPINION.

THANKS TO ALL THE ORGANIZERS OF THE EVENT FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK. IT HAS BEEN AN AMAZING TEN YEARS.

Great!    The Photo Pit seemed like it was in a different zip code from the static ramp this past TOM.

We have a list of of about 5 or so themes we would like to do in the coming years. Each year we look at which one will work best for that year (what are other shows looking at doing, has someone else done the same thing in the last few years and so on) I don't want to say the whole list, but for next year we have come to 3 different themes that would work well.

The jet idea is amazing, but I think you'd end up with a fraction of the list due to cost, reading that list was making me drool just thinking about seeing all those flying together. The Navy theme is great too, I can't remember if these were suggested for it, but I'd like to add CWH's Fairy Firefly and PBY for the Navy theme, and if it's flying Vintage Wing's Swordfish and Corsair. I can't wait until Airshow season 2008, since 2007 is over for me.   Cry

Right now we are looking at WWII Army Air Corp or WWII US Navy themes. We plan on doing both over the next few years, but which one would you like to see next year?
