Does anyone know if Nikon is working on/ or planning to future produce a camera like the D300 or D3 with an SD card slot.
Instead of the current CF slot.

I would say that Nikon will keep the SD slots for the entry level digital bodies and use CF in the semi pro and pro bodies. so to answer your question the replacement for the D-40, D-40x and D-80 will more than likely use SD cards.

I agree with Rob that SD's will probably remain the card of choice for the most beginner/consumer oriented cameras. As to a D-80 replacement? I don't really have any idea, but if they plan to announce anything new, it would usually be at PMA (Photo Marketing Association) meeting in Jan/Feb or just prior to the event.
