Hi all, I have been taking airplane pictures for several years now, it's taken some time, but I now feel that maybe my pictures are worth sharing. I have very recently got my first DSLR (Pentax ist DL) and I must say I'm very pleased. I have no dreams of making a fortune selling pictures, that's almost like dreaming of making big bucks as a pilot! I used to know a guy who sent in some of his pictures to Wings magazine, I don't know if he got paid for them or not, but what I'm interested in is how do you do this? Do you simply e-mail pictures you think they may be interested in? I tend to take mostly warbird shots, second most popular would be corporate planes, is there any demand for these pictures? Sorry if I'm echoing previous questions, I couldn't seem to find exactly what I was looking for, thanks for any and all help.

Hey Greg, you could try emailing certain Warbird Mags to see if they have any interest first and then forward them if they reply back?

But sometimes even when they say they are interested in your shots they don't make the pages Envy

Most magazines want a double threat....write and shoot photos.  Tough market.

So I email the editor of a magazine and say I have pictures of such and such, are you interested? Or do I say "I just saw such and such, would you like pictures and my opinion of it"?

Maybe even go to the effort of writing a page long article first, with captions for each of the photos, end sending him/her lo-res copies of some of the photos.  Then they can see exactly what they're getting, and maybe even offer some suggested changed to fit in with their format.
